Portland Trailblazers and Oklahoma City Thunder Fight for 6 Seed
April 12, 2010
The Portland Trailblazers and the Oklahoma City Thunder are currently in a tie with San Antonio for 6th seed in the Western Conference. This has been the most competitive season in the West in years as the 2 through 8 seeds have yet to be settled.
Portland is coming off of a huge win against the Los Angeles Lakers on Sunday, and is hoping to carry that momentum into this match-up. The Thunder are coming off of a disappointing loss to Golden St. squad that is 30 games under .500. It will be difficult for them to have the same energy on Monday as the Warriors made them run wild in a 120-117 shootout.
Portland was without their best player Brandon Roy for most of the second half as he left with an injury. The severity of the injury is still undetermined, but may play a huge roll in the game against Oklahoma City, and could affect their seeding in the playoffs.
Kevin Durant scored 40 points against the Warriors, and has locked up the scoring title in just his second year in the league. He is without question a super star, and will make this Thunder team a contender for years to come. Point guard Russell Westbrook has been a welcome edition to this team. He is averaging over 8 assists per game, and has been solid on defense.
This should be an exciting match-up regardless of whether or not Roy is on the court. Tune in Monday night as these two battle for the six seed in the Western conference.
