McCoy Increases Heisman Chances on Thanksgiving Day
November 30, 2009
Longtime rivals Texas Longhorns and Texas A&M Aggies battled it out on Thanksgiving allowing quarterback Colt McCoy to shine on the field. Colt McCoy may have advanced his position in the race for the Heisman trophy during tonight’s performance. The senior hurled 4 touchdown passes, scored another after a 65 yard run up the middle, and completed 24 of 40 passes for 304 yards. In this 44th win as starting quarterback, McCoy ran for a career high 175 yards on 18 carries.
The national championship is just within reach for the Longhorns with next week’s conference championship game with Nebraska the only remaining obstacle. The 3rd ranked Longhorns are well on their way to the BCS title game finishing the regular season 12-0. NCAA football handicappers have all but written the Longhorns in to the BCS title game as they have only a down Nebraska team left on their schedule.
