El Paso has played host to a college bowl game for more than 75 years. Utah was a participant in one of the very first Sun Bowls, and now the Utes return as a member of one of the Big Six conferences for the first time. 2011 Insight Bowl Game Notes

Bob Stoops is coming home. Sort of. The former Iowa Hawkeye football player will be on the same field as his alma mater when he takes his Oklahoma Sooners to the Insight Bowl to face the Hawkeyes. Although Stoops has coached the Sooners for 13 seasons, he has never faced his former school. The Little Caesars Pizza Bowl, being held at Ford Field in Detroit, will be almost like a home game for one of these teams, as Western Michigan of the MAC plays Purdue of the Big Ten on Dec. 27.
