Celtics Look to Closeout Magic in Orlando
May 26, 2010
It terms of NBA handicapping, game 5 of the Eastern Conference Finals will be extremely difficult to figure out. The Orlando Magic won Game 4 in Boston, but was it due to their solid defense and timely shot-making or was it because Boston was worn out from the previous 3 games. The Boston Celtics have played incredibly well at the most important time of the season. Beating Orlando in the first 3 games of the series was even more impressive due to the fact that the Magic had come into this series...
Celtics Look to Sweep the Magic Monday Night
May 24, 2010
The question is not if, but when? Dwight Howard and the Orlando Magic were once again embarrassed by the Boston Celtics Saturday night. It’s hard to imagine that a team that had a perfect 8-0 record though the first 2 rounds would be so unprepared for the Eastern Conference Championships. Boston clearly has the Magic’s number, and this series is well in hand. The only thing left to determine is how long will the series last. This is the perfect opportunity to assume that the Celtics will let...
Phoenix Looks to Defend Home Court in Game 3
May 23, 2010
For the Phoenix Suns to have any chance of winning the Western Conference Championship they will have to serve at home In both games 3 and 4. The Los Angeles Lakers have shown that they can beat the Suns at their game in the first 2 games of this series. This presents some serious problems for Phoenix as they will have to change their game plan in order to keep the Lakers within arms reach. Head Coach Alvin Gentry had decided not to double-team Kobe Bryant in the first 2 games, and that backfired...
Orlando Has What it Takes to Win in Boston
May 22, 2010
The Boston Celtics may have taken the first 2 games on the road in the Eastern Conference Championship, but they are not taking the Orlando Magic lightly. Orlando has been here before, and despite the youth of this team they will be ready to play Saturday night. Early season NBA predictions had the Orlando Magic as the second favorite (behind Cleveland) to win the East. This is not by accident as they return almost all of their players from last years squad that went to the NBA Finals. Dwight Howard,...
Lakers/ Suns: Game 2 of Western Conference Championship
May 19, 2010
Kobe Bryant and the Los Angeles Lakers exploited the soft Phoenix Suns defense Monday night as they dropped 128 points and won by 21. The saying, “ defense wins championships” is not a myth! The Lakers shot the ball extremely well, but so do most team against the non-existent Phoenix defense. In terms of handicapping basketball, this had to be one of the easiest NBA picks of the year. The Suns were coming off of 7 consecutive ATS covers and had everyone including the experts riding their bandwagon....
Magic look to even the Series against Boston in Game 2
May 18, 2010
The Orlando Magic were ambushed Sunday as the Boston Celtics shut them down with hard nosed defense. Dwight Howard and the rest of the Magic squad may have had too much time off. The rust certainly showed in their shooting as they were just 5-22 from behind the arc, and shot a pathetic 41% from the floor at home in game 1. Much of the credit should be given to the stellar Celtic defense, but it’s hard to believe that they were the only factor in holding Orlando well below their post season average....
NBA Eastern Conference Finals: Boston vs. Orlando
May 15, 2010
The Orlando Magic have made this years’ playoffs look easy. They disposed of the Charlotte Bobcats rather easily by winning 4 straight by an average margin of almost 10 points per game. Many believed the Atlanta Hawks were going to prove to be a much tougher test, but that was the furthest thing from the truth. The number 3 seed Hawks forgot that there was a second round, and were absolutely embarrassed in all 4 games against the Magic. The Magic crushed Atlanta by an average of over 25 points...
Lakers/ Suns Western Conference Championship Preview
May 14, 2010
The Phoenix Suns and the defending Champion Los Angeles Lakers will square of for the Western Conference title Monday night at Staples Center. Los Angeles won the season series with a 3-1 record over the Suns that included a win in Phoenix. However, the Suns have been the hottest team in the NBA since the All-Star break with an incredible 31-8 record including the Playoffs. Amare Stoudemire has become a force inside, and has dominated opposing big men during this years’ playoff run. He may find...
Cleveland Fights for Playoff Life in Game 6
May 12, 2010
The Boston Celtics will host the Cleveland Cavaliers in game 6 at home after a shocking 120-88 win in Cleveland on Tuesday night. The Celtics “Big Three” finally put together a performance that we haven’t seen since they won the NBA Championship in 2008. Rajon Rondo took control of game 4 with a 29 point, 18 rebound and 13 assist performance. Maybe the Cavs game plan was over analyzed as they paid far too much attention to Rondo and forgot about the 3 players that were put together to make...
Cavaliers Look to Maintain Home Court Advantage in Game 5
May 11, 2010
LeBron James had a poor performance by his standards Sunday as the Cleveland Cavaliers game away a golden opportunity to bury the Boston Celtics. Now that Rajon Rondo has taken center stage for the Celts, expect the Cavs to make some drastic changes defensively to put a stop to his dominance. Mo Williams generally plays much better at home, and he will need to Tuesday as the Cavaliers try to maintain home court advantage and force Boston to win on their home floor in game 6 to stay alive. There is...
