Boise State 2010 BCS National Champs?

August 2, 2010

After years of being left out the BCS National Title picture the Boise State Broncos have a clear path to BCS Title game. Boise State is no longer the little engine that could. The Broncos return 21 starters from last season’s undefeated season. But talent has never been the reason the Broncos have been left out of the title mix. This season everything the Broncos need is lined up for a march to the BCS Title game. For the 1st time Boise State will start the season ranked in the top 5. They have always had to make the climb from #18 or lower. Strength of schedule cannot be used against them this season.
Boise opens the season on the road against Frank Beamer’s Virginia Tech Hokies who also should open the season in the Top 5. If Boise State can beat Tech their game at home 2 weeks later against Pac 10 power Oregon State could become their ticket to a title shot. Chris Peterson should have very little completion in their last season in the WAC. Next year the Broncos will join the Mountain west which will improve their strength of schedule within their league. After almost 10 years of playing away from the main stage the Broncos have finally joined the elite college football programs. For once the BCS system will not prevent the Broncos from making a title run. If it does not happen they only have themselves to blame.
