Alabama/ Texas in the 2010 BCS National Championship

December 8, 2009

As we all anticipated after the games were over Saturday, Alabama will face Texas for the BCS National Championship. The Longhorns had to wait to the very last second of their game against Nebraska to celebrate. A game winning field goal by Texas kicker Hunter Lawrence with 1 second left on the clock has given the Longhorns a chance to redeem themselves from last years failure.

Many people feel that Cincinnati, TCU or Boise St. should be in the BCS Championship game ahead of Texas. While there may be very valid reasons for each of those teams, I would lean towards Texas due to their entire body of work. The Big-12 is a tough conference to play in, and Texas took care of business without a blemish.

There is no dispute about Alabama’s place in the title game. They played 5 Top-25 teams this season and beat all but 1 (LSU) by double-digits. Their resume couldn’t be anymore impressive. A convincing victory over Florida in the SEC title game has put Nick Saban and the Crimson Tide is a great position to get this program back to the top of college football.

This match-up should make for a competitive Championship game. Both teams have top rated defenses, and star players on offense. Colt McCoy may be a Heisman winner when this season is over, and Bama’s RB Ingram will definitely be playing on Sunday’s. Expect January 7th’s Rose Bowl in Pasadena to be one of the best games of the season.
