Wichita St vs. Alabama in NIT Championship Game

March 31, 2011

The NIT Finals may look like it has come down to a David vs. Goliath scenario, but the Wichita St Shockers will have something to say about that. The Alabama Crimson Tide escaped with a 1 point win against the Colorado Buffaloes to get to the championship game. The win for Alabama may have not been a surprise, but the fact that they held a high-scoring Buffaloes squad to just 61 point shows how well they play on the defensive end of the court. The Tide will need to replicate their effort on Thursday...

Oregon Ducks try to even series in CBI Final

March 30, 2011

With all the attention every year being put on the NCAA tournament, we seldom take time out to see what teams that didn’t make the “Big Dance”, did with their opportunities in the smaller tourney’s. Both the Oregon Ducks and Creighton Blue Jays are prime examples of teams that have come together late in the season, and are motivated to not only finish strong, but set the tone for the future. The Ducks went into the Pac-10 tournament on a 4 game losing streak, but managed to put together 2...

LeBron heads back to Cleveland to face Cavaliers

March 29, 2011

LeBron James will go home for the second time this season as the Miami Heat take on the Cleveland Cavaliers on Tuesday night. This will be the 4th and final time that these teams get together this season, and I’m sure the Cavs are happy about that. King James and company have pounded Cleveland in 2 of their 3 previous games with the one exception being a 6 point win in Miami back on December 15th. There is no second guessing that LeBron has left the Cleveland Cavaliers organization in shambles....

Houston tries to bring the Heat to Miami

March 28, 2011

The streaking Houston Rockets look to keep their run towards the 8th seed in the West going against the Miami Heat Sunday night. The Western conference has been competitive all year long. The teams at the top have created some space from the rest of the pack, but the fight for the 4-8 seeds has been getting increasingly competitive since the All-Star break. Houston had been out of the running entirely just a couple of weeks ago, but a 12-3 run that started with a win against Detroit on Feb. 22nd...

Kentucky & North Carolina in Elite Eight Showdown

March 27, 2011

Two of the biggest schools in NCAA basketball history will battle for a chance to get to the Final Four. The Kentucky Wildcats and North Carolina Tar Heels have been amongst the elite programs for decades, and once again they have both found themselves in a position to make another run at a National Championship. Kentucky has had a much tougher road thus far as they have had to take down a stout West Virginia team, and what many college basketball experts believe to be the best team in the nation...

Connecticut takes on Arizona in Elite Eight Showdown

March 26, 2011

Can the Arizona Wildcats put together as solid of a performance as they did against Duke? This is the question that every college basketball expert has been asking himself since the Wildcats dropped the hammer on Duke in the second half of their sweet sixteen battle on Thursday. They will need a huge game as they take on a Connecticut Huskies team that may be the hottest team in the country. Connecticut is coming off of a 5 game win streak through the Big East conference tournament, and 3 hard fought...

Red Hot Kentucky looks to Shock Buckeyes Friday

March 25, 2011

The Kentucky Wildcats may be the most talented team in the country. The problem all year for coach Calipari and the Wildcats has been a lack of consistency due to their inexperience. Through playing time and hard work, Kentucky has seemingly turned the corner after a stretch in early February that saw them lose 3 out of 4 games to SEC conference opponents. As well as they have been playing, they will still need to increase the intensity and effort on Friday if they hope to get past the Ohio St Buckeyes...

Huskies take on Aztecs in Sweet Sixteen Battle

March 24, 2011

One of the hottest teams in the country takes on a team that basketball experts did not expect to be a number 2 seed when the season started. The Connecticut Huskies are on a roll! They did the unthinkable when they won the Big East tournament as a 9 seed. It’s not that they weren’t capable of winning the conference tournament, but having to play and win 5 games against some of the best teams in the country is what made it so remarkable. A blowout of Bucknell in the second round, and an 11 point...

Nuggets Host Spurs in Western Conference Showdown

March 23, 2011

The Denver Nuggets haven’t faded at all since the departure of Carmelo Anthony and Chauncey Billups. If anything, they are playing better! Usually losing your 2 top scorers would spell disaster for any team, but Denver has actually increased their offensive performance since Melo and Chauncey went to New York. Denver currently lead the NBA is points per game with a 107+ average, and have a game and a half lead over the Portland Trail Blazers for the 5th seed in the Western Conference. The top 3...

Western Conference Showdown: Lakers vs. Suns

March 22, 2011

Was there any doubt that the Los Angeles Lakers would turn things around in the second half? If you thought they wouldn’t “flip the switch” that NBA experts kept talking about, then you haven’t payed close attention to how head coach Phil Jackson operates. Since the All-Star break the Lakers have won 12 of 13 games with the one exception being a 6 point loss to a Miami Heat squad that was in desperation mode. This entire team has increased their efforts now that the regular season is winding...
