New Mexico Bowl Preview (Fresno v. Wyoming)

December 16, 2009

The New Mexico Bowl features a Fresno St team that has been trying to break though to the next level, and a Wyoming squad that won just 4 games a year ago. This game will be a battle between the dynamic Fresno St offensive attack and the much improved Cowboy “D”. It’s hard to know if the Bulldogs will “get up” for this game since their pre-season expectations were certainly higher than the 8-4 record they finished with. However, after losing 3 of their first 4 games to Wisconsin, Boise...

Streaks & Trends: The Good and the Bad

December 15, 2009

Picking winners is not easy! The majority of professional handicappers have a variety of different systems in place to help them reach their final decision on a game. The more sports information that points towards a particular team in a game, the more confident a handicapper will feel about that pick. Using streaks and trends can be helpful to a professional capper provided that the sports information given is legitimate. Determining whether or not a certain streak or trend is valuable to a match-up...

Toronto, Seattle & Philadelphia Propose a Blockbuster Trade

December 14, 2009

A proposed 3-way trade may land Roy Halladay in Philadelphia. Reports are out saying that the Phillies, Mariners and Blue Jays are working on a trade that would send Halladay to Philly and Cliff Lee to Seattle. It is not certain what the Blue Jays would receive in return. Halladay was being looked at by several teams during last season prior to the trade deadline as Toronto knew they wouldn’t be able to afford resigning their ace. Now that he has made clear that he doesn’t want to be a part of...

Sunday Night Football Preview: Giants v. Eagles

December 13, 2009

The New York Giants face the Philadelphia Eagles is what should be another gritty NFC East battle. The G-Men finally broke through last week with a HUGE win against division leader Dallas. Prior to that victory, New York had lost 5 out of 6 and looked as though they were mailing in the season. Now that they still have a legitimate chance of getting in the playoffs, the Giants can control their own destiny with wins in their last 4 games. Philadelphia has their own plans to get a post-season bid,...

Patriots Struggles Continue

December 13, 2009

The New England Patriots are starting to look like an average football team. After starting the season 6-2, the Pats have lost 3 of their last 4 and are in jeopardy of not making the playoffs for the 2nd consecutive year. One of the most telling stats regarding the 2009 Patriots is their road record. They are officially 1-5 thus far in road contests with the sole victory coming over-seas against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Wembley Stadium in England. This is very uncharacteristic for a New England...

December 12, 2009

The rivalry continues Saturday in the 110th meeting between Army and Navy. The Midshipmen have the upper-hand winning 53 times to Army’s 49 over the last 119 years. While neither team has been considered an “elite” program for quit some time, this game is still exciting due to its rich history. Over the last 10 seasons, the Black Nights of Army have won and covered only 1 game (2001). Navy’s average margin of victory over this decade has been 20.6 points. The emergence of Ricky Dobbs as a...

Alabama/ Texas in the 2010 BCS National Championship

December 8, 2009

As we all anticipated after the games were over Saturday, Alabama will face Texas for the BCS National Championship. The Longhorns had to wait to the very last second of their game against Nebraska to celebrate. A game winning field goal by Texas kicker Hunter Lawrence with 1 second left on the clock has given the Longhorns a chance to redeem themselves from last years failure. Many people feel that Cincinnati, TCU or Boise St. should be in the BCS Championship game ahead of Texas. While there may...

Charlie Weis out as Head Coach of Notre Dame

December 6, 2009

After the third consecutive season of disappointment, Charlie Weis has been fired from Notre Dame following Saturday’s season-ending loss at Stanford. The Fighting Irish have not been successfully led to meet the high expectations held by this organization as the season ended on a four game losing streak and 6-6 mark. Weis finished with a record of 35-27 during his five years at Notre Dame holding a winning percentage of .565, a percentage lower than former coaches Tyrone Willingham and Bob Davie....

Favre is Changing Pre-Season NFL Predictions

December 2, 2009

Age before beauty. In the case of Brett Favre, he has them both. One week before turning 40, Favre put on another classic display Monday night as he shredded the Green Bay defense for 271 yards and 3 touchdowns. I don’t know why anyone would make an NFL pick against him, especially when it’s a big game. He always finds a way to quiet all of his critics. Favre was written off after a horrible second half of the season with the Jets. As it turns out, maybe he was really playing hurt. It doesn’t...
